Meet Our Staff and Administration

Our motto at Lifted Academy is: ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’” Proverbs 22:6

Our staff is committed to the purpose of properly training each child in the Word of God. In a culture that is showing little conviction to see this “way” as the way God would have us go, it is only through churches and private schools like L.A. that are holding the line against the changing social, intellectual, and cultural influences that will ultimately shape our children’s future.

We believe this includes our children’s eternal future as well.

Parents, Pastors, and Teachers are the primary models in society to our young, impressionable children. Since a child spends 6-8 hours a day in school, it stands to reason that it is imperative that parents know and trust those whom they are placing their children with, as these teachers become a major influence in the lives of their most precious possessions. I am a Christian educator with over 35 years of experience and a deep passion for teaching godly principles. I began my journey in California, where I earned a BA from California Baptist University, and later moved to Texas to pursue a Master’s in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. My husband, Pastor Rob Myers, and I have been in ministry for over 42 years, and we both earned our Doctorates in Leadership in 2016. In 2008, I founded Miami Baptist School, now Lifted Academy, driven by my passion for Christian education, which grew as I raised my three sons. My mission is to guide children and their families toward a Christ-centered life filled with joy and love.

I have been working in education for the past 11 years. I earned my BA from Florida International University and later completed a Master’s in Early Educational Leadership at the University of North Florida. At Lifted Academy, I’ve had the privilege of working with various age groups, from preschool to kindergarten. Recently, I transitioned into school administration, which has been a wonderful experience. I am blessed to be immersed in the love and teachings of Christ through the curriculum and staff here at Lifted Academy.

It is my firm belief that every child, when given the opportunity, along with motivation and assistance, can succeed and become a star. That is why I am so passionate about teaching. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Florida International University, with certifications for K-6 education and an ESOL endorsement. With over 13 years of teaching experience, I have taught various grade levels, but I feel most passionate about elementary education. Currently, I serve as the department chairperson for elementary education and teach first grade at Lifted Academy. I am incredibly grateful for the supportive environment at Lifted Church and Academy, which I now consider my second home.

I have been the lead VPK teacher at Lifted Academy for many years. Teaching is my calling and passion. I was born and raised in Cali, Colombia, where I earned my degree in Early Childhood Development from C.E.N.D.A. in 1989. After running my own daycare and School of Clay Modeling Arts for children, I moved to Miami and worked for a Gold Seal private school in Doral for eight years, also teaching Spanish to Kindergarten students. I eventually joined Miami Baptist School, now Lifted Academy, where I have been ever since.

My name is Erika Elesppe, and I am the sixth-grade teacher here at Lifted Academy. I also teach Math and Science to our fifth-grade class. I've been a member of Lifted Church since I arrived from Japan last year. I lived in Japan for seven years, where I taught English as a second language.I am passionate about God and am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Christian Studies. My calling is to become a missionary, and until then, I will be the best teacher I can be to your childrenI speak three languages fluently: English, Spanish, and Japanese.

Hello! My name is Daniel Alvarez, and I’m excited to be the 5th grade teacher at Lifted Academy. I was born and raised in Miami and earned my bachelor’s degree in Business along with an associate degree in Teaching. I’ve been working with children since I was 14, starting as a summer camp volunteer and later serving as a camp counselor, aftercare counselor, and substitute teacher. I’m truly looking forward to helping my students learn, grow, and thrive. I feel blessed to be part of this school community and can’t wait for a great year ahead. God bless you all!

Through the years, I have taught all age groups in elementary and secondary education, but I do enjoy teaching older students the most. Lifted Academy has been such a blessing to me, and I hope I can continue to be a blessing to all of my students and parents.

I have been teaching for 22 years now. Teaching is not only my career, but also my passion, I look forward to a blessed school year filled with excitement, growth, and meaningful experiences. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege to work with children from VPK through 5th grade. I'm truly blessed to be part of an amazing team here at Lifted Academy, where I can be able to reach children's full potential not only academically but spiritually as well. For the past 13 years, I have been blessed to serve as a stay-at-home mom, raising my children and homeschooling my eldest son for four years. During that time, my passion for Christ and lifestyle of prayer, gave me the privilege of ministering daily within my home, which I call my house of prayer. I grew up in Miami, and have two beautiful sons, with my husband Daniel. My journey as a healer began even before motherhood, when I worked as a licensed massage therapist, bringing comfort and wellness to many. Over the years, God has shown me that true healing comes not only through touch but through the power of prayer, fasting, and faith in Jesus, our ultimate Healer. My nickname is Sonshine since I was a baby in the crib given to me by my Mother. In my time of serving the Lord, He showed me the very purpose of my life and has given me amazing recipes for fresh juices and anointing oils to help spread His Gospel. That is when Sonshine Healing Ministry was birthed, all for His Glory!I count it a joy and honor to now serve the precious first-grade students at Lifted Academy. This is not simply a teaching position to me—it is a ministry and calling. I believe I don’t have to teach these children, I get to! Every day, I am humbled, excited, and anointed to cover them in prayer, share God’s love, and walk alongside them in both learning and faith. Everything I do is an act of worship to my King, Yeshua, and I look forward to pouring His joy, love, and wisdom into the classroom.
